To the City That Made Me, From the One That Holds Me Now

A love letter to Boston and Orlando.

Boston.

We had a thing, didn’t we?

You were never easy.

You were cold, sharp-edged, unapologetic.

You chewed me up, spit me out, and dared me to try again.

And I did. Again and again.

Because somehow, beneath your concrete and chaos, I found myself.

I bled on your sidewalks—metaphorically and literally.

Scraped knees from risks that didn’t pay off.

Bruised pride from boardrooms that taught me the hard way.

But every failure here came with a lesson.

And every lesson became a layer of armor.

This city taught me how to do business.

How to make the deal, close the room, and stand tall even when my voice shook.

Boston made me sharp. Boston made me fast. Boston made me tough.

And now, I walk your streets again—

Not as the same woman I was when I left,

But as a guest.

I pass the offices where I earned my stripes.

The restaurants where I toasted my wins and drank away my losses.

The boutiques that held pieces of the woman I was trying to become.

You’re still here. Still familiar.

But now I’m different.

Because now… my heart belongs to someone else.

Orlando.

Warm, soft, expansive.

She opened her arms and said, rest here.

She gave me sunshine and space.

She didn’t ask me to prove myself—she let me be.

And in that being, I bloomed.

Orlando didn’t raise the businesswoman in me—but she got to meet her.

She gets the version of me that knows who she is.

She gets the clarity, the confidence, the whole.

So yes, Boston.

I will always love you.

You were my first.

You taught me how to fight.

But Orlando taught me how to live.

And as I sit here—five days, five meetings, five thousand memories deep—

I realize this isn’t goodbye.

It’s just a soft, knowing smile across the room,

Because no matter where I go…

I will always carry both of you with me.

One made me.

The other saved me.

And together, you made me whole.
